John Deere 5115M?

I'm looking at one to replace my 20-year old chore tractor. Anyone have experience with one or knowledge about them? Thanks.

I suggest for you to visit Green Tractor Talk or Tractor by Net to read some of the threads on new tractors.
I think I'll stay with my none electronically controlled tractors. If new tractors less than 2 yrs old won't operate because of electrical component failures just think of the electronic component failures they might experience 20 yrs from now.

Depending on what your gonna use it for I have a 5E tractor with a loader. And I love it I beat the out of it and its going strong.

Thanks. I could live with the E. I did notice that the M & R models have a mid frame that the E does not. I thought the addition of a mid frame would make the tractor better for loader work. Like picking rocks, firewood, dirt, etc. What think ye?

From my understanding the E has the same loader mount the the R and M tractors have only real difference is options. The R and M Tractors will give you the option of having the command arm autotrac and a 4 cylinder diesel vs the 3 cylinder. I have never had any issues doing loader work moving stuff around etc the only thing I wish I wouldve gotten was the power reverser. Only down side is the loader in my opinion is too big for the tractor so be sure to weight up the back end otherwise youll go for a ride.

I will be the first one to choose green but I find John Deere is cheapening up newer models. Hey, 115 HP out of a four cylinder?? You'll get a helluva lot smoother ride with a six cylinder. Open center hydraulics? That reminds me of the inferior International Harvesters we had in the 1960's & 1970's. No, go. And, - don't get me started about the new tier-4 engines and all the nonsense this mandate has caused.

I'll second the comment on the power reverser. My current chore tractor does not have it. It would have cost $1000 more and I thought I wouldn't need it. Little did I realize how much reversing I do although I have no cattle.

This one put out 106.7 PTO HP at Nebraska and 98.22 drawbar HP. I don't need anything this size with that much power. A 5090 would do just fine with 83.7 PTO HP. I have larger 6 cyl tractors but I don't think anyone puts a 6 cyl engine in a tractor this size. I wouldn't want it anyway as it would probably have a longer wheelbase making for a longer turning radius. I need a handy chore tractor. That's what I do about 75% of my farming with. I'm surrounded by 14 John Deere dealers. The one closest to me has a new 5115M with a loader sitting on the lot. All of them have an assortment of the E series which appears more popular. The M & R tractors have a mid frame which I'm thinking would make it a better loader tractor. I have the premium PFC hydraulics on my larger John Deere. I don't see a need for it on this tractor but I could move up to an R series where it is an option. Thanks for your input.
