John Deere #52 Plow

Just started to restore/repair a plow for going to plow days. It has the Syracuse 1451 NF moldboards and one of them is missing "chunks" and cracked. I'm guessing that it probably cannot be welded. Is it likely that I will be able to find a moldboard and chin if I search around ? Thanks.

I've got JD plows with Syracuse mold boards and I used to be able to get them through a JD dealer. I haven't bought any in years as the parts were expensive and in my stony ground I was always breaking plow points that were costing me $40 apiece to replace. I decided to change out the bottoms with newer ones and now I can get the plow points at TSC for a fraction of the Syracuse parts.

Thanks Charlie. Do you have one of your old ones still kicking around ? Never thought that a dealer would have parts. Will try that too.

I've still got all the parts as it was a 3 bottom I changed over - I also have a 2 bottom with the same bottoms. If you need a part number off any thing I can take a look. Mine are 14 inch plows.

Also - A JD guy may have a source outside of a dealer that might have a better cost. Can't hurt to ask.
