Hi we have a John Deere 530 tractor that some parts have been robbed off. she is a fence row tractor. it has been sitting out for a long time and I really want to get it inside and fix it up it has a wide front and three point with arms on it and top link. I have been trying to get a parts 530 or 520 tractor for a doner. haven"t had much luck it is missing a bunch of engine parts. so I have been wondering about a john deere b parts tractor? there is lots more around and didn"t know if parts would match up or not any info would be great! thanks

I think you need a 520 or 530. They have the same engine, B is lots different. Probably have to end up with parts from a used parts vender.

The wide front end and 3 point hitch are certainly valuable options, $700+ each.

Usually a tractor has to have a some major problems to go in a fence row. A busted transmission, a cracked transmission case, or engine run without oil until it siezed. Something major that made it way too expensive to repair. I wouldn't stick much money into repairing the tractor or into buying a donor machine until I knew why the tractor was parked in the fence row. The repairs could be very expensive.

In the long run, it may be less expensive to look for a running Plain Jane 530 instead of a donor tractor, transfer the WFE and 3PT to the running tractor and restore that tractor instead.

530's are a handy tractor, yet they are not real common. With a 3PT hitch it will still be a very useful working tractor today. Good luck and have fun.

i have overhauled 530 & late B's & when it comes to engine everything from the block up is different , head , intake carb & on , the rods i think are the same ( must be late style B) even though the crank is same stroke ,there different at the pulley end do to live PTO & pistons are same bore but rist pin was moved for shorter bolck hieght, 530 is a hard one to get parts for they didnt make that many , but they are a great little tractor , also the power steering can cost a arm & leg to buy parts for & when there not right it steers like and old G & thats being nice , try Wengers in Myerstown PA ,dont have number handy but there on the web , there the biggest salvage parts place pretty much on the east coast all parts are warehoused & they will stand by them, hold on to you check book though

(quoted from post at 18:42:07 02/10/14) now would a 50 be the same or was just the 520 and 530 that had the same engine?

The B and 50 shared a similar spark plug in block engine design. Although most 50's had a duplex carb and head.
The 520/530 used a wedge shaped combustion chamber with a quench. Spark plug was in the head. Duplex carb.
Bore and stroke of Late B's to 520/530 were the same.
Some transmission final drive parts will mix and match late B through 520/530.
