John Deere 530 steering issues

I have inherited a 530 John Deere tractor, and it appears to have a steering gremlin of some sort, hoping someone here may be able to offer some advice.

Issue is as it is running the steering will lock up when and you can hear it under load like the pump is being dead headed, if you back off the turn it will come out of it and will usually turn the other way fine, but it will keep doing this, no set place for the occurrence just randomly and sometimes it won't, it will also pull the wheel out of your hand and turn on its own at times.

With the tractor turned off, turning the wheels are without any issues it can turn from end to end, with just a little bit of resistance at the far ends both ways, but throughout the steering swing it steers with ease, this is all being done with the front off the ground.

You need to adjust the the power steering sleeve and helix. There are shims and some pins in there that wear. Check the fork on the steering spool valve to see if the bolt holding it is tight

Tried sliding the helix, did get to a spot that was better but not perfect.

Think I am going to have to dig into the entire pedestal now, appears there is oil leaking from the bottom now. Was hoping it wasn't going to be that serious, but after wiping down the entire pedestal and letting it sit overnight, there was a decent puddle at the bottom of the roll-o-matic and it was wet from the top down, while the pedestal was dry. 😒

Fingers crossed any seals, pieces, parts I need are available.
