My pop just bought a 1958 Deere 620 from family friend, very distant relation, 3000$ rebuild the carb change oil, tune up, runs great, what can we expect or need to know other than an ol 41 b got no deeres, seems tough, p/s seems to creep to left and pto drips as it spins , seems exhaust manifold
Is cracked and cold/hot is seized, the other "big" farm tractors are a wd45 and a DC case , farmall m, so yeah pretty old school, any awnsers help thanks. Dustyah

620/630 Manifolds cracked is normal, from what I have observed for decades here in western Minnesota. Have known several 620/630
in the neighborhood that were purchased new and still in same family. Manifold was perhaps a weak point in design of those
otherwise outstanding Two-Cylinder John Deere Tractors.

IF you haven't, change PowerTrol and PTO fluids. I just bought a nice 620 a year ago and when I pulled the plug to drain the Powertrol, nothing came out. Put my finger in the hole and there was
about two inches of sludge. Took some time to get all of that cleaned out. Also, the PTO wouldn't stop turning. Oil must have been to thick or dirty as once I put new oil in it's been fine since.

A 620 is one of the stoutest tractors that size made.
The lugging power of those things is great.

I totally agree with Richard....the 620/630 tractors are the real deal. Super strong and durable. I've been using them for 50 yrs. (first one in '68).
