I tightened the clutch on my 630 and after that it was stuck in reverse so I loosened the clutch and it came out but when I backed it into the shed it wouldn"t come out of reverse.

Clutch dragging a bit and putting a load on the gears? Does it come out of reverse when the engine isn't running? Are you throttling the engine way down when trying to shift out of reverse? There are two adjustable stop bolts in the back side of the clutch that keeps the fork from coming too far back when the clutch is disengaged. If the stop bolts aren't adjusted up right the clutch will want to turn with the clutch disengaged and the engine running fast. Earlier models had shims instead of the bolts. Pull that throttle back to idle and see what happens. Jim

I tightened the clutch up because it wasn't climbing up hills very well and I've tightened it before. It doesn't come out of reverse at all. I loosened the clutch up a little the first time it got stuck and I thought it fixed it but it didn't. also the shifter handle comes completely out of the transmission. Jake

There is a snap ring that holds that shift lever in place. If it came off the lever will lift out. I had that happen on an A I bought. Also if the snap ring is not in place it will making shifting hard going into reverse. Don't know about coming out. You have to push down on the shifter to put the snap ring on. Try pushing down on the shift lever and see if it will come out of reverse. If the clutch rod attached to the bottom of the clutch handle is not adjusted correct it will come to far back and start to reengage the clutch. If the pulley turns when the tractor is running but the clutch is not engaged that most likely is your problem. The 3 castle nuts adjust the clutch for slipping but should not effect the way it goes in and out of gear.

I did some messing around with it and I think that the shifter is worn out or its caught between two gears because it comes out of gear but try to shift into and another and it only get half way into the shift quadrant and it feels like it is hitting on an other gear.
