John Deere 630 Tractor Vibration

Bought a 630 John Deere more than a year ago.

Man I bought it from had the engine rebuilt by a pretty good shade tree mechanic. Guy who did the wrenching took 4 years to get the motor rebuilt. One of those I will have it done soon type of jobs. Owner finally got mad and said I am coming to get my tractor tomorrow and it better be ready. Shade tree guy put it together that night.

I took my truck and trailer to get it for the guy. When we got it loaded the owner said I don’t want this tractor anymore. He had bought a 3010.

Long story short I bought the tractor. Put it in the shop and it has set there since.

It ran, but not good, when I bought it and I knew it was not right.

This afternoon I got it running—-it still doesn’t run good—-lol.

It is vibrating bad when running. No knocks or hammering—-just vibrating. Great oil pressure.

I pulled the inspection plate off on top of the engine to look at the rod caps, etc.

Rods move from side to side and feel to have some slack when you rock the crankshaft back and forth.

I am thinking this is where my vibration is coming from.

What do y’all think??? What is the solution??

Are you sure the Flywheel (its likely okay) as well as the clutch drive disk are on the correct splines in time ??? I have seen guys remove and replace the clutch disc but get it on the wrong spline causing vibration. The offset heavy sides need to be 180 opposite from each other

Is the vibration in time with the engine revolutions? If so, look for the alignment marks on the clutch driver and flywheel on the crankshaft ends. Start there.

John T. I hadn’t thought about the splines on the clutch.

I will give that a good checking out in the morning.

I think the crank is good. No leaks, but you never know for sure.

There should be timing marks on the clutch drive disc that match the crank and if the heavy offset on the clutch isn't 180 opposite the heavy offset on the flywheel its vibration city lol

To me, it sounds like the flywheel isnt on the right spline. We ended up putting the flywheel on the wrong spline when we put it back together from the first reduction gear repair.

We had some friends show up today and I didn’t get to take
the clutch apart to see if it is timed right.

I know exactly what to do and I hope this is the problem. If it is
it will be an easy fix.
