John Deere 630

I have a JD 630 that will start and run for about 1-2 minutes, then will sputter and die. After about a minute it will start right back up and repeat the same. Opening the carb drain indicates there is ample gas in the carb. Any ideas will be appreciated!!!

Check for spark when it dies, a failing "thermal" ignition coil can cause this. Or, possibly a condenser.

Remove gas cap and drain out bottom of carb and you have to at least do it for as long as it runs before stopping. In other words, let fuel run out carb for at least 1 or two minutes. That's a lot different than just making sure you have fuel flow. I'll bet it quits or slows to a dribble.
