John Deere 6300

Going to look at a 6300, mfwd with loader. Any comments on the tractor? Anything to look for?
It will be used for moving bales, some manure, and odds and ends. No tillage or heavy pulling.

I would avoid the first year, or two they were made. Lots of computer or electrical issues. I was at a JD dealer pricing a new 4255, & while the saleman was talking to me he was interrupted by a phone call. A very angry customer who couldnt get a new tractor started. Something about the way you put the transmission in park wouldnt let it start up again. The salesman hung up the phone, looked at me, cupped his head in both hands, & said "Deere has a real @#*&## tractor here. It was the 4th 6400 with the same problem. I have heard they took care of the problems with some updates; but who knows!

I have to agree with Deere Scotty, the beginning of that series was a little iffy to say the least, but things like not starting because of not being in park, it usually just takes some wiggling on the gear shift, because the sensor doesn't make good contact. As long as you don't do a lot of major tillage you should be happy with it. They are good runners and easy to drive.
