John Deere 6600 models

I read that there were some 24,000 or so 6600 combines made during its run. What were the different models? I know there was a sidehill model and the regular, wheat/corn/soy bean combine, but were there any other models? A dry bean special or something to that affect. Just wondering. Thanks

Neighbor has a 6600 hillside. Sure provides a good sample and doesn't leave much grain on the ground either.

To my knowledge, there was the corn/soybean combine (had a variable speed feeder house and deeper tooth chaffer), grain combine (fixed speed feederhouse and standard chaffer), and the Sidehill combine. There was also a hillside combine (not to be confused with the SideHill) which was called a 6602. There was also a pull type 6601. These were the basic configurations. Anything beyond this was done with varying options. Mike

I"m curious about the difference between a side hill and a hillside. I believe the hillside was the one with auto leveling of the thresher body via cyl on the drive wheels.

Sidehills only level up to around 18%. Designed more for the Midwest. Hillsides level I think over 40%.

Good information. I know on the inside of the cab just above the right hand control area, there is usually a label saying "corn soy beans wheat combine”. Would the rice, side hill, hillside and wheat models get the same label in the same area?

I will have to check. We have a 7700 and a 3300 that came from Iowa. Only reason I know about the different models is because JD put out a different brochure for each one.
