john deere 662 rake

I was looking at getting a hay rake since I am just starting to get into haying and dont know much. how does a hydrolic driven hay rake work for sure? I know if you raise the hydrolic lever it will spin one way but if you lower it will it spin the other way? what do you think about a hydrolic driven one instead of a ground driven one?

On hyd driven you have no u-joints to grease or wear out. Basket speed variance if required could be be adjusted with the correct valve.

Down side is orbit motors tend to heat hyds.

also how would you raise and lower it cause there is just one crank on the front from what I can see do you just use that?

The basket has two adujustable spring loaded rods you use to adjust the left side and right side of the basket. The single crank raises and lowers them in tandem.

Note the diagram only shows one side.

ok, so that is what you use the crank for is to raise and lower the raking part both at the same time since this one only has on crank?
