I am having problems with my jd 70. I cant seem to get enough gas to it. I get so far and I suck my bowl dry. I just got done drilling out my main jets and putting a 3/8 fuel line on. Fuel pumps are not allowed. I am useing a 95 dplx carb. Is there bigger needle and seats avalible. The tracter runs great until you really start working it then bowl goes dry. Any help would be great.

have you cleaned your tank...take sediment bowl right off..thats what we are going to do..get some fitting and a ball valve..good filter from napa and run gas line right to it..i think it should flow more minus the sediment bowl

We're testing a needle seat for MS Duplex carbs with an enlarged orifice, about 220%.
So far, works ok on test stand, haven't tried on a tractor yet.

Sucking which bowl dry? Carb bowl or sediment bowl? If its the sediment bowl, then you have a flow restriction into the bowl. Possibly dirt in the inlet, or a gas tank cap that won't vent properly. You didn't paint the vent holes shut on the cap did you? Once you have adequate flow into the sediment bowl, you need to get it into the carb. Pull the nut with the screen strainer out of the carb and check for dirt. Make sure your inline fuel filter (if you have one) is still flowing good.

Just experinced this same issue on a 70 stroked and bored (big cubes) gravity just wont keep up!....... Install a fuel pump the tractor is a beast now.

I have cleaned my tank and I have no sediment bowl on tractor anymore. I removed it and put an inline filter on. The filter and the lines are 3/8 inch. I also removed the screen in the carb aswell.

You should never use an "in-line" filter on a Gravity-feed fuel system on a tractor...

A sediment bowl is better than an in-line filter as far as permitting more fuel delivery..

Even without the screen, it gives dirt a place to settle out..( or even use a coarser screen)..

I have drilled out a seat before and it went good. You don't have to double its size because that would flow four times the fuel.

I would go a little bigger and work the tactor to see if its getting enough fuel.

Too big and the needle won't be able stop flow when the bowl full of gas.

His problem is not in the carb, it's getting enough fuel to it, without using a pump.
