John Deere 70 front single wheel replacement

I have a single wheel JD 70D that I need to shed weight in the front . Would like to replace the heavy cast front wheel with something lighter . Where do I go to get a lighter wheel that fits this application . Or do I need to go to a pedestal ?

You should be able to take that single wheel off and be able to put a front end from like a 420 or 430 under it. Much lighter and your wheel options are much greater. Pulling on
Spillman's sled I see.

I have a pedestal from a MT. Could make it even lighter with a schedule 80 pipe. And give it a little rake.

I think MT may be to light , I still use to haul manure and such in field maybe 3 or 4 times a year . Would like to find a way to just put a smaller aluminum wheel under that still uses the single wheel fork . I am reaarching the 420 or 430 option to see if those heavier than the MT . I do have a MT availibel if I go that route .

I'm not quite sure why you would want to mess with lightening the front end. In all of my experiences it was to my advantage to keep the front end down. This keeps the geometry of the sled in your favor. You don't want that skid plate on the sled to be digging in when you pull. I agree with you on wanting to lighten up for a lighter weight class but look at taking some weight off the rear instead. Just my 2 cents.

I can add 1000 lbs (7500class) behind the axle and my front end still stays down . So in the 6500 it is balanced even worse

i built a new fork to use an axle hub from a deere 7200 planter. easier to fine wheels with a common bolt pattern
