john deere 70 gas project

Working on a John Deere 70 Gas, early. Noticed after pulling the clutch pulley/housing off, that the journal area where the clutch pulley rides is scarred/grooved. I have looked around on several sources for the availability of oversized bushings. John Deere parts manual only has the OEM, as does Steiner, and not sure if LInde Bros had any.
Going to look closer at the bushing still in the clutch pulley gear and see what shape it is in... Will post picture tonight after work of it.

A NOS bushing is pressed into the pulley and has to be honed to fit the crank afterwards.

The journal on which the clutch rides upon further inspection doesn't appear that bad. Especially now that I learned from MSD that the new bushing is a shave to fit upon installation.

Put a new clutch bearing in while your at it. You can knock that race off the crank and replace it with the bearing.
How does one remove the gear from the clutch housing to get to the bearing & race, drive pin, dogbones, etc. Been looking for some kind of retaining lock ring. Have been told it is pressed on at factory

Where pulley bushing rides on crankshaft is just fine. Pulley bearing comes out the front side of the pulley. Use a long punch from the back side of pulley and drive out bearing retainer and bearing. Use a LARGE three prong puller to pull off pulley gear F1386R. May need to use a torch to heat gear in one place to expand to get gear off. No retaining ring and gear was pressed on at the factory. Check and clean bushing and bearing. They may be OK. If so : with gear off, slid off pulley oil seal F3379R, take out dogs and toggles, check operating sleeve tab hole and pin. If clutch did not have a good snap, I would replace the dogs and toggles. Put together. Lub dogs and toggles, bearing and race. I say use a good synthetic grease. Put on pulley oil seal, heat pulley gear and set on and drive down until gear bottoms out. Slide on crank and finish assembly.
