John Deere 7020 general question

Did the later model year 7020"s have a different engine set-up than the earlier models? I thought the 7020 always had the naturally-aspirated 146HP engine same as the 5020 had. In the last production years did they go to a turbo and intercooled setup on the 7020 same as on the 7520? Reason I"m asking is the ERTL toy company just released a Precision 7020 toy, and I"m telling them they goofed up because the toy replicates a turbo and intercooled engine. Who"s right? Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Ertl didn't goof up. 7020's had an intercooled 404. same engine as a 4630. 7520's had the 531 like in a 6030.

A quick glance at external_link and jdparts reveals that they had turbos from the word go on the 404 diesels. Could be wrong but I would surmise that they all had turbos and were intercooled.

hello, early 7020 had basically a 4620 engine, later 7020 had a 4630 engine, both were 404 cubes and turbo & inner cooler

This is true, the early ones had a roosa-master pump, with turbo and intercooler,,the newer ones had a Bosch inline pump, with turbo and inter cooler..

Thanks for the responses everybody. I was basing my assumptions strictly on outward appearances, and the explanation that the early models had basically a 4620 engine with the 4630 engine in later years answers a lot for me. I also noticed that the earlier years had the breather in front of the exhaust, with that moving to the back of the exhaust in later years.

Again, thanks.
