John Deere 790 instrument cluster

Need to change the meter assembly (back panel) in the instrument cluster. To remove the old one, I need to pull 6 screws that hold the meter assembly and the 3 needles. I have the screws taken care of but how do I pull the needles? I tried pulling straight out but they did not loosen up and I did not want to pull too hard and mess something up. I have a picture but could not figure out how to upload, but can email if somebody wants to see it.

Never mind. Problem solved.
I was able to get them out with a fork.
