John Deere 8400

We are looking at a JD 8400 with 8400 hours. We will be using it to pull a 14 yard dirt pan. We have owned 4960,8760,9400,9420 using them for same purpose . None of the tractors we owned had over 5000 hours nor did we have any major engine problems. We sold 9420 two moths ago as we are scaling down business. we are wanting a smaller tractor to build small sites and ponds. How many hours on the 8000 series tractors before you need to roll a bottom end in? On the 4960 we had transmission and rear end trouble. Are the 8000 transmission and rear end any stronger than previous row crops? I talked to the farmer that traded it in and says its a good clean tractor used daily on his farm. He is just upgrading. they are asking 60k for it. Any help appreciated.
