John Deere 936 moco

I need some help with a problem I?m having. As I?m cutting, the mower will cut out and stop cutting, if I lift the deck it will start back up again. I burn up the belt today. Is it just a bad belt, clutches? Thanks for any help in advance.

BELT TENSIONER IS NOT ADJUSTED CORRECTLY. OWNERS MANUAL WILL TELL YOU THE CORRECT LENGTH OF THE SPRING.

Update, I roasted the belt yesterday and you are probably right it was the tensioner, but I think I?ve found another issuer. The gears on the top and bottom rollers aren?t touching, I believe the top roller occasionally touching the bottom is the only thing running it! Any suggestions on adjustments or issues?
