John Deere 990 Electrical Issue

New Member here.....I searched before posting but could not find any info on my problem....Purchased my 990 new in 08. Always serviced, used for bush hogging 10 acres. Went to start the other day and when I turned the key to warm up, that worked fine but when I turned the key to start, just a click. Thought the battery may need charging, did that, to no avail. Thought the starter may be bad, replaced it nothing! New Battery, New Starter No power anywhere, Lights do not work either. What else within the electrical system could cause this issue..... Thanks in advance

Absolutely, that was my first review/repair. we have a solid ground. I do not have a manual on this engine or electrical system. ive noticed a couple of modules on the opposite side of the starter. Was thinking one of them may have died...

I know you said you checked your ground, but did you unbolt it and clean it? These Yanmar compacts are notorious for grounding issues, even take a
jumper cable and use one lead to go from the battery negative to a starter bolt to check.

I have lots of reading material for your 990, shoot me your email to me and its on the way, my email is open

Welcome to YT
I've witnessed ground cables that had corrosion inside of insulation causing poor electrical conductivity.

Make sure the tractor is
in neutral and try
jumping the starter.lf it
cranks over, one of the
relays might be bad.

Sorry for the delay in responding, keep getting a message my post goes against community standards.....Ran the Ground to the frame of the tractor and that worked.... Crazy
