john deere A question

how much hp will an average 44 A have and would it have electric start i want something biger then my farmall H and i think i want an A or if i could find one cheap a G but theres a 44 A for sale around here that im looking at

A JD "A" has approx.40 Hp which will certainly more than your H. As far as a cheap"G" I don't think such an animal exists but if you find 2 email me immediatly .Exact hp can be found at external_link.As far as a starter ,they were optional but I would guess that most would have one but many wartime made ones didn't.

1944 A as tested was around 30HP. If it has high compression pistons and been bored out a little it would be close to 40 HP. In any case the difference between 321 cu. in. and 148 cu. in. is significant, the A will walk away with the H, assuming both are reasonably stock.
