John Deere B gears

(quoted from post at 02:55:28 06/22/13) I was just wondering if antbody new a way to lower the gear ratio on a mid john deere b

Yes i did it on my 44 B. I used a belt pulley gear and first gear reduction gear from a late B.. You need to get a bushing made for the belt pulley gear to work on the original belt pulley

(quoted from post at 21:36:57 06/26/13) How about going the other way, what would it take to put the older gears in the later tractor?

Never thought about doing that ray.. we always just went to the next gear up in a cyclone if we needed too..

(quoted from post at 16:52:37 07/28/13) Did you half to get the input shaft out of the late b for the first reduction gear out of the late b to work in the mid b?

No.. heat up the ring gear on the late b and pound it off then install on the mid b gear. that way you can use the mid b shaft..

the original reduction gear for my b don't look like it comes apart. it looks like the gear is made together. the late b gear I can see what your telling me.

Maybe some of them were one piece.. you may have to find a mid B gear that is not.. I know mine was a two piece gear..

Thanks again I did some research and some was one piece and some were 2 piece. I found me a 2 piece mid b gear just got to go pick it up.
