John Deere B throttle response

I'm new to running these old John Deeres, so I'm hoping someone can give me guidance on the the throttle. I rebuilt a 48 B, it starts and runs smoothly. But needs the choke to be on about half way. If I open the choke, even after being warmed up, it cuts off. Is this normal? Also, should there be a range in the throttle? It just seems to run at one RPM, there is no range in the throttle. Any advice is appreciated!

Have you tried adjusting the idle and load adjusting needles on the carb. ?
It should idle down to 500 and accelerate to 1200 or 1400 ? (I can't remember for sure )without hesitation but not real fast when all is good.
You may have a clogged up carb. and a binding throttle plate, shaft or linkage ?

Of course it should run with the choke open, and at whatever speed you set. Lots of things to check. First, is the fuel flow good? Is the carburetor set too lean? Does the throttle and governor linkage work properly? I'm sure others can come up with more reasons. What do you mean by "rebuilt"?

Being you are new to John Deeres, if you should in the end decide to get the carb rebuilt, an excellent man to do it would be

He did the carb on my 60. Like many others said ahead of time, even when you THINK your tractor is running fine, once Mike rebuilds it it'll blow your mind the difference in how much better.

Sounds like I have a carburetor issue from all the posts. The carb that is on it was a remanufactured purchased from ebay. I'm guessing it must have been shotty work done by an amateur. I really appreciate everyone's advice. Thank you!!!
