John Deere B wheels

could one of you JD B experts tell me if they ever shipped 43 Bs with flat spoke on rubber from the factory?

I'm not an expert but I think the answer is NO rubber had round spoke wheels and steel flat spoke

From what I've read, flat spoke were all originally steel.

Had some B wheels here at one time that were factory flat spoke for rubber tires. FIL got them for the 37 A we have, he only counted the axle splines and did not measure the axle diameter.

According to the serial list on yt and the jd parts book they had factory flat wheel from 39 to 46 as one style(9X36) and another after that till 1952(9X40).

In this book by Jr Hobbs. THE JOHN DEERE STYLED LETTER SERIES 1939 TO 1952 - SECOND EDITION page 41, it lists a flat spoke wheel for rubber
tires, part or casting number JD1240r. Page number 14 lists Deere flat spoke 12 spline for 9.00-36, JD1244r, and Deere flat spoke 12 spline
for 11.25-36, JD1245r, Available for the 1939 year only.

My 37 A has flat spokes with rubber also. How can I tell if they might be factory?

744k has the correct answer. Yes, but not in 1943.

Nope. Your tractor was shipped on steel and cut down after
the war. Replacement 36 inch 16 flat spoke wheels could be
used with a demountable hub. 12 spoke replacement flat
spoke 36inch wheels were also available with a cast in hub.
ALL flat spokes were discontinued mid 1939 and 38 inch
pressed steel or cast centers with 38 in demountable rims
became standard. All round spokes for the B were
discontinued in September of 1938 with the introduction of
Deere made factory flat spokes. If you see round spoke
rears they were made by French and Hecht. They were
available as replacement parts for years after Deere
discontinued them at the factory. Another way to tell if you
have cutdowns is there were never 38in flat spokes
produced. Everything was 36in.

This clears things up for me and makes perfect sense after looking at parts books.
