Got a John Deere LA110 lawn tractor and it always back fires on shut down
Sometimes worse than at other times
Local dealer says normal but i find that hard to believe
Anyone else have this problem or can offer a possible fix
The tractor performs great but i just feel the backfire is going to lead to future problems
Any help would be great
Thx in advance Dave

Dave, shut it off at full throttle.

Did the engine on this mower have an Anti-Dieseling Solenoid on the carb. that someone has taken off? If so replacing this part could fix your problem.

As was suggected, your engine has a shutdown solenoid, if you do not shut the engine down at full RPM, it will backfire. do not idle it to shut shut it off.
