John Deere BR pricing

A local guy has a John Deere BR for sale and said to make him an offer. I'm not a John Deere guy and wasn't sure on a price. The tractor is an older restoration with decent rubber and electric start. It hasn't run in 5-10 years but has been kept inside. I'm located in south eastern Ontario so CAD estimates would be appreciated but not necessary.

The exchange rate is now what, around 1.4 Dollars Canadian to one US dollar? If it has not run in 5 to 10 years does the engine still turn over or is the engine now stuck tight? Electric start is a big plus as tractor collectors are getting older and no longer want to hand start any tractors.

Running in parade ready condition I will SWAG a rough value of $1,000 to $1,500 USD as described, $1,400 to $2,100 CAD. The seller might have several times that much invested, but will have a very hard time recovering that investment in today's collector market. Stuck engine, less than half of running value. Non-running but engine still turns over, around 2/3 to 3/4 of running value.

IMHO, offer what you are comfortable paying for it. If it is not accepted let the seller know if your offer is good for several months. Your offer might be accepted later.

I think that maybe the price estimate is a bit low because BR's have their own little niche. Probably $2000-3000 USD or more. Otherwise I would agree on the condition of the unit driving the price. Rear tires can be a little pricey if you can find them. Tom in Mn.
