John Deere Expo

Don't forget the last John Deere Expo will start Thursday morning and run through Saturday. Should be an outstanding exhibit. Cattle Congress Grounds Waterloo, Iowa.

From what i've seen on John Deere Two-Cylinder club of Facebook, a lot of beautiful and varied exhibits will be there. Looking forward to Expo...

Now, What about start having an Expo that moves around. Similar to that of the Antique Truck Historical Society (ATHS.org). They select a sight three to fours years in advance and travel all over the United States giving everyone an opportunity participate. Also, every truck that shows up at an ATHS national event is photographed and catergorized by make/year in an album that is forwarded to "all" members regardless if you were present or not.

Right here in Perry, Georgia is a wonderful site known as the Georgia National Fairgrounds that would allow for folks in the "southeast" to participate in a show that would not break them. Al, Tn, Ga, SC, NC, Fl and so on.

The EXPO used to move around. I think the main problem is the current members are getting older and there are few "new" members that will put up with the BS the original members dish out by the shovel full.

I am looking forward to it too. Even though some folks on here seem to enjoy trash talking the beautiful tractors, no one tries to claim they are like they were when the factory built them. Much of the enjoyment of the Expo is a chance to talk with exhibitors who are available with background and technical information about their tractor(s). I have been to about 20 of the expos and was at the NY Expo this year too. In NY the rain drove me away on Thursday, Saturday you had to look hard to find a spectator. Both are great shows and require lots of work on the part of the organizers, my opinion is if you don't like that type of event, just stay away and avoid bad-mouthing people you judge as aloof.

Someone fill us in on admission cost, age 12 & under free? Is parking free? Anyone know the forcasted weather Thrusday-Saturday?
My Wife, Daughter and I plan on attending. Thanks for the info.

According to the magazine kids 12 and under are free. Adults are $5.00 per day. There are great plant tours but they might be getting full. For tractor assembly tours call 319-292-7668. For engine works tours call 319-292-5347. I highly recommend the tours. I think the show is well worth attending. I will have some tractors and parts there to sell too.

I called last Friday to see if there were any open spots for the tractor assembly plant tour. They were booked solid and were not taking names for any cancellations. I did not call for the engine plant tour as I've been there before.

On the other thread, I mentioned meeting at 2 p.m. at the east entrance to the McElroy Auditorium to meet fellow YT members. If another time works better for folks, I am open all day as a spectator.

The weather forecast (as of now) is:

Thursday - Scattered Thunderstorms. A few storms may be severe. High 81F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Friday - A mainly sunny sky. High 91F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday - Scattered thunderstorms in the morning, then partly cloudy late. High 91F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
