John Deere G governor/timing issues

Ok I bought a late 1948 John Deere G with the governor missing. So I bought all the parts I need to put it back together. I go to put the flywheel on LH Impulse to time the cam gear and Governor gear. But on the cam gear there is no mark. But if I put the flywheel on LH exhaust the cam gear mark is there. So what I'm getting to is...Do y'all believe someone had timed this tractor useing the right handside cylinder

Ifffffffff the flywheel is lined correct to the crank,,,,,,,,,and iffffffffffff the crank is timed
correct to the cam,,,,,,,,,,,,and ifffffffffff the governor is timed correct to the cam,,,,,,,,,

When the Flywheels LHI mark is in the 3 o clock position lined up with the flat mark on tractors side

Left piston is at TDC and the female horizontal drive slot on the governor shaft end (where mag mates)
should be flat horizontal fore n aft.

Since its more often the governor has been removed than flywheel crank or cam, its the governor that may
have its timing wrong. THEREFORE if at LHI at 3 o clock and left piston at TDC if you install the governor
so the flat female drive slot (where mag mates) is flat horizontal fore n aft I THINK THATS RIGHT

But hey no warranty Im rusty on this and NOT sure its correct, please correct me if Im wrong it wont be
the first nor last time lol

John T; You are correct, just did a G by loosing the governor case to get the MAG drive lug horizontal with #1 piston at TDC.. Could not see cam gear timing mark.. Tractor started and ran great.. Your brain cells are still OK.. lol.......

Thanks Jim thats good to hear I remembered yayyyyyyyyyy Thats what I was thinkin, if all else is right simply set the governor down on the cam so the female drive slot is flat horizontal fore n aft GOOD TO GO then time the mag or distributor
