John Deere G PTO Shaft

I have a 1947 styled G with the 1 3/4 inch PTO shaft. I bought a 1 3/8 inch shaft F953R, but there are only 6 splines on the front end of it so it won't fit into the coupler. Original shaft has 10 splines. I had the idea, and it has been mentioned here, to have the original one milled down to the smaller size. I have not yet found anyone willing to do this. Does anyone know of a machine shop that might do that for me?

I would think it would be cost prohibitive vs buying the correct shaft.

I have a John Deere G PTO Adapter that takes the bigger 1 3/4 down to standard PTO but its back home in Indiana. If you still need one mid
April mines for sale.

Picked up one of the adapters John T. is referring to a couple years ago at a farm auction and since I had no use for it sold it on
the net for I think, $25.

I also have a 1947. Last year I converted it to 1-3/8 with parts from a late G parts tractor. I wanted to get eyes on some of the internals of the tractor so I am glad I did it, but it was a lot of work. Long story short, I have a couple other G's I want to convert and plan to machine those down. I have a mill and a rotary indexer and have been thinking about writing a program to do it. I'll probably run one next week and see how it goes.
