just for fun, if you could chose between a model G or a model D
for using, or collection, which one would you chose? i think they are both similar power?
pick any model, or style you like!

for me, i think a late G , i always liked the looks and the sound,
but a D would be kind of nice to have hauling fire wood in from my farm

i guess i like both!
so for fun, which would you pick, and why?

I've had both. Would always take the G. The D's I had were hand start and a real pain to turn over. G's have been electric start so am partial to them. My pride and joy pulling tractor.

One I have for sale.

Looks like the pretty, painted one could use new back tires. They don't look like they have much traction?

I have both so its a moot point. Specifically I have a 1946 GM and several styled Ds. They are two different tractors designed for two different types of farming. The G series will be more user friendly, more useful overall, and more collectable but parts will be more expensive and harder to get vs the D. Horsepower you are two talking 38 hp drawbar on the D vs 34 on the G

I use my G all the time with the aftermarket three point it's really useful. It starts easy and with the M&W pistons and gas manifold it dynos, according to the former owner that bought it in 1961, over 70 hp. The only thing I have that I could use a D for is a small trailer.

For show a low radiator G hooked to a 2 bottom 44 plow. To run a late G like Fordy's. Gas pistons and right down the line to boost HP. Have it pull 4 X 14 plow.

Yayyyyy for tracks!!
Thankyou for posting photos SV.
Check out those front skid rings.
Pretty sure most folks only associate the lindeman brothers in Yakima, Washington, with only the BO Lindeman crawlers, and designing the MC crawler conversion but dont know about the D and GP conversations along with a bunch of other conversions, fabrication and engineering all the way into the 1980s with rubber tracked cat challengers.
And a good shot of the hills we have in the Pacific nw

This sounds like a 5020 OR 4620 question.
I have both and both are great.
I prefer the G over the D but have none. I plan on getting a G when they will be cheaper, as I do not want to put too much money in an unusable tractor.
