John Deere gasket

I am looking for the large gasket that goes between the block and crankcase on a 1945 John Deere A. I don"t live close to a John Deere dealer and I have looked on the web with really no luck. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks

I suppose I could make a gasket, I"m not that good with my hands I have arthitis which makes it difficult for me to follow a pattern. Besides, I don"t have the old gasket to make a template which would make it much easier for me to cut out. Thanks

This might help a little, although I don't have a gasket. John Deere part number is A426R. Also, it is available in the gasket kit, AA4284R.

Brown, buy some gasket material from autoparts store the correct thickness. Smear some light grease on backside of block. Lay gasket material on block. Press down firmly on new gasket. Grease will leave a outline of new gasket. Use scissors and a razor blade to cut. Simple and cheap !!

If you have a NAPA store close by you can get the gasket kit from them its in their. I think when I bought mine it was around $100.00.

Appreicate all the feedback, I now have number I"ll call my son he lives fairly near a JD dealer I have him order it. Thanks again
