John Deere gathering chains

I am restoring/ playing around with a John Deere 227 2 row mounted corn picker. The gathering chains are starting to get rather worn and my connecting links are losing the lock if i'm not watching. Does anyone know of a place to get new chains for this old girl anymore? I've been to a few dealers of all colors and haven't found anything close yet. This chain seems to be wider than most 550 and 557 chains that are used on todays corn heads.

Ditto on Farmchains.com. I needed chains for a New Idea picker, including some of the specialty links. Their website didn't show them, but I emailed them the number and a photo. The reply came back, "Sure, we've got those. How many do you want?"

We fixed up an old IH one row silage chopper and the gathering chains on that turned out to be 2060H which is slightly different than the 550 you mention in your post. Hope this helps you narrow it down, I found a couple places that sell chain with the specification measurements for each size of chain made and then searched until one matched. I then found the connector links I needed on eBay really reasonable.

I am thinking yours is a later picker with roller type gathering chains. Mine was earlier version and had flat steel link detachable type of gathering chain.
