John Deere H Carburetor Question

I'm not a mechanic and generally like the red ones that used to be around. My nearing 90 year old friend has a hand start JD H. He loves to start it and putter around his neighborhood on it. The rest of the time it sits under its own metal carport. Anyway he was driving it one day and it quit. He's probably less of a mechanic than I am.
My thoughts are to drain the gas line from the tank to see if there is water and also to check that there is a continuous flow of gasoline for about a minute.
If so, I thought I'd remove the carburetor and take it to somebody to clean it.

Question: is there any kind of gasket with the carburetor and if so where do I find one?

Other ideas I should pursue?
Thanks, P.S. I'm not purely red as I have a 3020. kelly

This site should sell a carb. kit for those and they usually come with the mounting gaskets too.
Estimated 1/2 if not more of all carb. problems are ignition problems instead.
