It looks to be pretty complete, so kind of a shame to scrap it, but I understand you want to get it removed. One of those things you can't give away, but someone would pay decent money for. Problem is finding that someone...

In Texas we called that a one way plow I have a smaller version of the same plow

Commonly used on the arid prairie for summer fallow. Run over fallow fields to control weed growth about once a month through the growing season. Plenty of them sitting around in yet in ND.

When I bought this farm in 1978, newer JD "One Ways". (single axle disc harrows made for flipping topsoil under....since Moldboards just gummed up in this heavy clay when wet) were hooked to a lot of Johnny Poppers around here. The biggest one I saw had 16 discs on a single shaft. The huge, heavy, tailwheel kept it following the tractor rather than being forced out to the side since there was no counter force like today's popular tandem double
V shaped axle arrangement. You could tell when a farmer was using one as there was a cloud of black smoke over the field where the popper was huffing and puffing.

On what to do with it, set it out front and hang a sign on it......Yard Art.

It's a very cool find & may very well get a good home.

It would probably be gone fairly quick for $200 - $250 OBO on your local Craigslist, FB or whatever your best outlet would be. Can post a free "For Sale" ad on the forums here too. It's all the way at the top of the page under "Marketplace".

I never saw one being used anywhere here in Michigan. Harry Allen was the Ford dealer here. He sold John Deere for a time. I believe from what I'd gathered, that he switched to Ford when the 8N came out. Dad and I went to his house one time to look at a piece of equipment that was there. There was a new old stock John Deere disc plow sitting there in the weeds. I'd bet that thing ended up at the scrap yard without ever being sold or used.

I hope you find a buyer, that looks in pretty good shape. Be a shame to have it melted into import trinkets. But I understand getting things cleaned up.

Even though they are often called a disc plow, that is NOT one. Disc plows have each disc mounted on a separate standard and can plow much deeper than a disc tiller (or one way). I have had two of them here in Michigan and missed out on a third at an auction. Kind of fun to use once you figure out which way turning works best. Scrap dealers like them because they are very heavy, I hope you can find a good use or buyer for it.

Disk plow. Were vary popular in the west and up to Canada, some even had grain drill boxes mounted on the back of them!

yes that is a 8 disc JD disc tiller we have a 6 disc that works nice , and we have 3 disc plows a IH a MOLINE and another mounted one cant rember the make of that one where each disc is mounted seperatly . we use 3 of them at our plow day each year the IH works best still working with the moline to fine tune that one

I too, inherited one of those one-ways, only it was an IHC. Used it a couple of times. Finally sold it for salvage a few years ago. Had an opportunity to buy one exactly like your deere from wife's cousin a few years ago but it is probably gone by now. Would like to have it for yard art.
