John Deere M distributor

I purchased a used distributor and found that it is set up with electronic ignition and have no idea as to what voltage or how to wire it ore even if it is any good.
I would like to convert it back to points but can not find the parts to do so. I need the plate and cam at least.

does anyone have them laying in their tool box?

I went out and disassembled it and find that all I need is points, condenser, wire insulator and a screw for condenser and one spring for the flyweights which i can make. I did not realize that the cam was part of the shaft.

Thanks for the help!

The insulator is available on eBay and
maybe even this site. It would be easier
to just go to the auto parts store for the
spring. They will have a selection so you
can match it up.

I got the insulator and points condenser on the way, our local ace has a good spring selection, if not a ballpoint pen spring could be made to work.
thanks

For the spring, GOOGLE "Mr. Gasket 928G ". (Assorment of 6 for about $11.)

As I'm sure you realize the selection of advance springs determines the "advance curve" of the distributor.

Sounds like you have ONE of the pair, in this case, both springs were the same, so select the one from the kit that seems the closest in "strength" to the one you have, IMHO.
