I would say your “option” idea is probably 99% correct. No idea for certain, but the parts diagram I attached shows a bracket it would mount in, unless that was only a support bracket that went behind the hood. My point is that someone may have drilled this hole and mounted it there, but Deere may have intended it to mount elsewhere.That's a new one on me. I've never seen that before. I grew up on an MT, and that never had one. Presumably it was an option?
