i have 49 john deere m no spark at plugs power at the point and coili put a tester points got spark from coil wire put cap back on idont get any spark any help

Try sanding the points with fine sand paper (400 or 600 grit) just a few strokes between the contacts. Clean the points with thin clean cardboard making a few strokes (cleaning any dust and sanding grit from the points). Look at them with a magnifying and see if they are shiny and clean and pretty flat(no wear). If not, repeat sanding and cleaning. Turn ignition switch on and hit starter button while watching points-they should spark. If not, check point gap and readjust if necessary. The points have to be sparking at the contacts to get the engine to run.
You can extend the life of your points dramatically with this procedure, although must mechanics put in new points and do't mess with old ones. You can save a good quality set of points with some patience. Make sure the lube block has a little lube on it.

How's your cap and rotor? Sounds to me like they might be bad if you have power at the points. Do you have power on both sides of the points? I was only getting power to one side. Put in a new condenser and that solved my problem.
