I have converted my Uncles model M from 6v gen. positive gn. to 6v alternator positive gn. The tractor will start and run but not
charging. Does anybody out there have any experience with this type of conversion? Thanking in advance

Unless alternator is special positive ground likely easy fix is switch to negative ground. Switch coil wires should be all needed.

Is alternator self exciting or does it use 3 wire system?

Are you sure the alternator is positive ground? Those do exist, but are rare.

Did the last battery cable spark when connected?

If so, the alt was negative ground and is probably now damaged.

I too would like to know what 6v alt. was used.
