Before you head to your local JD dealer for parts, check jdparts.com for the price. When you get to the dealer you may find that your part has been superseded by a new number at a significantly higher price, even though the original part number and price still shows up on the website. In my case a $37 part was now $60 and a $207 was now $260. This was not a scam that the dealer was trying to pull, they showed me the old part number and price and the new number and price. In my case the parts manager walked by, asked what the problem was, and after the guy on the counter explained, he just said, "you can fix that". Apparently the IT group updating the website can't keep up with the accountants raising prices. And this was parts for a 47 year old 4240
