John Deere plow

I have a John Deere 415A two bottom plow original. I have removed all plow points and
ready to have sand blast and repaint to original color. Plows in my area are selling
for $200 to $250 and all plow points are costing me over $300. I hate to scrap this
plow and would welcome advice on it being worth the cost.

It's just the way it is,it cost money to rebuild, repaint !

Do you want to keep it original? Is it for show or to use? If for use then just take any old shares and blow som holes in the right place and bolt them on. Or I have taken used shears and welded them on top of original share.

I would think that plow should have the blade-throw away type of share and cannot believe they are that high priced. Now the blacksmith type of share that probably was avaible for someone that wanted them instead of the new style then that price I can see. But then they can be sharpened with heat time and again.

Get the casting numbers off the shares they are on eBay all the time for 30 and 40$ each

I have a 415 that had nearly new parts on the bottoms and original paint in decent shape with two coulters I paid $400 for a few years ago.

It is a good plow for a small operation which there are more of around me than big operations so they hold value. I wouldn't think twice about putting new parts on mine but I use it and plan on using it for years to come.
