John Deere Power Driven Corn Binder

The wood around the gathering chains on my John Deere Power Driven Corn Binder, has rotten away. Can anyone tell me where I can find measurements for all the wood pieces. What type of wood should I use? Treated Menards Lumber? I was also wondering where can I find out the paint scheme on this machine. If any one knows any information, I would greatly appreciate it. I do have accesses to pictures, If I can not find any information, I can make something look right. With some carpentry work, sandblasting, and paint, she will look nice behind the 35 A at shows

Actually treated lumber is usually low grade lumber that doesnt make grade for regular lumber. It is usually softer, has more knots and defects, and tends to shrink alot when it dries out. It does last better in conditions where it is wet all the time but that does not sound like the case here. I would go with oak lumber. And either paint it or maybe varnish it with something unless your paint scheme dictates it should be painted. Doug fir would be good to. If this wood is going to have something running against it like a roller chain oak will wear the best. Hope this helps

Natural oak with a clear finish would look soooo nice. Jim

I have a power binder in working order. Mine is a later one that appears to have been all green with yellow wheels. All of the wood is original except one piece and appears to have been some type of pine. I will help with pictures and measurements if you need them. Email me.
