John Deere "R" pistons

I just pulled a very nice set of 45 over John Deere R pistons out of a running tractor( I shut it off before I pulled them ) Ha Ha,
But seriously, Any ideas of the value? Thanks

No idea, but I did see an advertisement in a magazine for new R .045 and .125 over pistons and ring sets. I think they were either 1400 or 1600 a set, can't remember.

Most R's are already 45 over. There are now new ones
available that are far superior to even NOS because they have
a steel top ring land cast into the piston, like a Cat piston. And
most R's that are beyond service in their current size are
simply bored 0.375" to 6.125", standard 730/830 size. This
gets you a bunch of power between the better spray pattern &
huge bore increase. Nobody makes R injector tips & good
ones basically no longer exist. So an updated piston shape
/nozzle tip is actually the only option. IMO they're not worth
much at all, unless/until new spray tips are built.

Yeah, why spend 1600 plus machine work to install a R piston, when for 600 plus machine work you can put in a way better piston and design?? I can build new R tips, no problem, but 90% of the R's out there are going to a 730 or 830 piston so you need a different tip anyway.
