I thought I saw a post here but can't find it. My 2010 hasn't been started since 09/2024. Went to start it 3 weeks ago and click click. I put it on a charger for 3 days, still click click. I swapped out the battery. After charging for 2 days, it still won't turn over. Batt has 12.7 volts. Same with wire going to alternator. My batt voltage drops to 4.5v when I turn the key. I thought I read where someone said to put 12v on the starter solenoid. I hooked my charger black terminal to ground and touched the red to the starter solenoid after removing the wires. I had cleaned the copper lug on the solenoid before doing this. Nothing happened.

What am I doing wrong? Should I have left the wires on the Solenoid? Can I not do this with a batt charger? Appreciate any suggestions.

Dunno what you're attempting to do, most consumer-grade battery chargers aren't capable of starting the tractor without the battery hooked up.

Put the wires back, thoroughly clean the battery cable ends and battery posts.

If no improvement, almost certainly the battery has failed.

It sounds like you have had this tractor a while, did you operate it regularly before it was parked in September of 2024?

Which 2010? (not real important at this time)

Gasoline or Diesel?

You mentioned Alternator and hooking your black charger cable (generally negative) to ground. The 2010 was originally positive ground and had a generator. Was it converted to negative ground? Does it have an alternator and if so what alternator.

We don't know hat you have for a battery charger. A battery charger may not be capable of turning the starter.

What brand starter, they used a couple brands.

Any way to turn engine over by hand? Maybe coolant leaked into a cylinder and it is hydro locked. Also have seen corrosion follow it's way down a battery cable and create high resistance. How is the ground to chassis? Could try a couple of different battery cables from another vehicle to see if that helps.
