John Deere Syncro Range transmission trouble

I have a John Deere 4030 with a syncro-range transmission, that will not go into 3,5,7,8th gear just grinds. Both reverse gears and other forward gears are not having any problems. I?ve done the simple things, cab mounts are good, adjusted linkage looked for worn parts. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance

The top shaft sychronizer is bad,, and on those you will need to split it in 2 places,, there are 2 bolts that are hidden in the upper front

99% of the time it is not the linkage...Darn it... I just did a 4030 Quad Range a couple weeks oge with the same issue..

Like Tim said, high side synchronizer is at fault / failed. The untold secret being you have a 4030 "syncrorange" is you can get to the two hidden bolts without double splitting tractor. Remove clutch control valve and using short tools with a box end wrench as a cheater the two internal bolt can be removed with out splitting at the clutch split. The reason this can be done a syncro not having the two speed in this cavity gives enough room to get to the two internal bolts. I have done this to my 4030. You will not find this in any manual as this was a self discovered process. Saves time and a gasket. DW
