Jon Deere # 48 Loader Valve Hoses

Hi All,

Could someone tell me where or how the hoses hook up on the control valve on a John Deere #48 loader. I have included pictures of the valve I have on the loader. It's all original that I know of. It looks like someone had a loader on my 4010 before and I see and know where they hook up to on the tractor.

One small fitting at top then 2 more below that go to the bucket ram. Then I have two open ones or with plugs in them under that and then an open one at the bottom.

Thanks for your help. J R

Fitting that is attached to port marked "inlet" is where pressure is attached. Other 2 capped ports should supply either boom or bucket cylinders which ever aren't already attached.

Tx Jim covered the inlet.

You said the bucket rams hoses are connected. If one of the spools has a long cap on the end opposite the handle, it should be the boom lift. The long cap usually indicates it has a float position. It looks like that is the spool having two ports with plugs in them. Lift hose (head end of the cylinder) should go to the port furthest from the handle.

Thanks Jim,

I was out there and taking off the bracket that holds the valve and seen where it says inlet. I had to dig a washer on a hole that was broken.

Yes, the two ram hoses are still in tact and hooked to the valve body or controller. I am going to mount it here in a bit and start putting hoses on. I will have to drive into Salida to get hoses that I need and that is an hour away. I live in the mountains in Colorado.

Do you know the lifting capacity of this lift? I got it for my 4010 because my Case broke an oil pump shaft and is down. I have to pull the engine out and see what damage I did to it.

Thanks for your help! I may call upon you later if I need help.

Thank you Kansas4010. This helps a lot too. I have a return in my filter also but it was a machined fitting and then Tiged on both sides of the filter housing. They did a great job but I didn't know I would need it until this weekend. My Case loader broke a shaft from the oil pump so I had to buy a loader for the JD so I could feed hay this winter.

Thanks again,

J R

I would suggest you replace that gnarly looking hydraulic hose.
Years ago I happened to lay a 5 gallon feed bucket between the
independent valve holding arm bracket on a JD 148 loader and the
tractor hood. I was about done with chores and the hose blew. The
bucket stopped the oil from hitting me on my face. I replaced all
the hoses from the valve for safety's sake. Just a thought.

Yes sir, that is what I have been doing yesterday and today. Tomorrow I will drive an hour and a half to get a fitting in Pueblo. TS and Big R didn't have it in Canon City. Gonna use it to move hay with tomorrow after I get back. Thanks again you all J R
