I recently acquired my past grandfathers Jubilee upon transporting it from the wrecker station to my house, which is about a mile mile and a half I had and fourth gear, moving at a good steady pace all of a sudden the rear end locked up and stalled upon rocking tires back-and-forth rocking the clutch for a second it disengaged and I continued on in first gear went a while seemed OK moved up into fourth gear again, on level ground, it did it again repeated what I did on the first time ended up driving the rest of the way in first gear home now there is a slight noise not sure what s going on. I m new to the tractor world. I looked in the gear site port I can see some oil in the bottom, but not a lot look in the transmission side same as well, can you guys help? Am I too low on fluid? I ordered a manual yesterday from www.Farmtractorsrepairs. thank you.

I'm not sure what "gear site port" you are referring to. There are 4 fluid sumps on that tractor, going from front to rear they are:

1. Engine crank case oil pan
2. Transmission
3. 3 point lift hydraulics sump
4. Rear axle/differential casing

If you are saying that there is only a little oil in the bottom of the rear axle/differential casing then that is a problem. The rear axle should have enough oil in it to immerse at least the bottom third of the differential ring gear in oil, and a bit higher would be desirable. If you ran it on the road in high gear without proper lubrication in the rear axle then something might have been damaged.

There are two manuals that you should have. The first is the Operator's Manual, sometimes called the Owner's Manual, which tells you how to operate thee tractor and perform routine maintenance like changing the fluid and filters and how to measure the fluids for the proper levels. The second one is the Service Manual, which assumes that you already have the Operator's Manual and therefore does not cover those routine maintenance items, only more complex troubleshooting and repair work.
