Jubilee Resto

Hello everyone. I am new to ford tractors and hoping that you can help me out. I"m painting a jubilee and have a few questions. First off what brand of paint do you recommend and how much? I will be spraying it on. Also are their decals that go in the Ford that is on the hood and fenders or are those hand painted? And lastly is can the valve cover come off with the gas tank in place? This would save me alot of time if I know the answer before I start. Thanks to all in advance!

Automotive paint will give the best finish and wear, but will chip easier than farm and garden paint. This site sells decal kits go to parts.

Some of the finest equipment enamels are made by Van Sicle paint company . Their ford gloss enamel I think number 457 is well accepted. I think Tisco is now using their paint. I would reccomend using a hardener. Everybody thinks their paint is the best, use your judgement. I think Dan has a great combination, and he will give you his site so you can see the colors.

Yes you can get the valve cover off with out taking the hood/fuel tank off, but you have to hold your mouth just right, stand on one leg and say just the right words to get it off. Or in other words it can be done but it is not all that easy to do

When I did my 640 I sprayed the Ford logo's red with a aerosol can first- 3 or 4 good coats; an hour or so between each coat. I let that set a couple of days, then I sprayed the grey over the entire hood/fender, again 3 or 4 coats and let that dry a few days. Then I wet sanded the grey off the logo's letting the red come through. It was time consuming but looked great when I was done.

I like the TSC BPS paints.. not superb paint at 26$ per gallon.. but holds up decently. easy to use too.

Thins with naptha for sprying.. or MS for brushing.. uses valspar hardner.. if you go that route.. etc.
