My Jube (6 volt positive ground) starter is spinning but wont engage. I assume the pin might have dropped out or spring broken. Any ideas before I pull it?
Thanks,

ull and look.. Might even be ring gear slipping on flywheel.

Starter Motors can be 6V or 12V, POS or NEG GRN, they don't care. B4 you pull it off to inspect, Test the battery. What does the voltage measure static on you VOM? What has changed? Tractor been setting for a while, more than a week? Battery will deplete specific gravity and kill it soon after. Gotta keep battery on a Float Charger when not in use like the DELTRAN BATTERY TENDER. Can't just connect your basic garage trickle charger when you need to start it. GEN or ALT must be use a belt tensioner device or else you will never charge the battery. Perform true root cause problem solving methods and don't start yanking parts off willy nilly until verified good or bad. A good, local GEN/ALT shop who knows old FORDS can bench test unit, usually for free.
