jump starting a 8n

i have a 49 8n with a 6volt system how do i jump start it with 12 volts? what do i hook the 12volt postitive to?and the negitive?

If you are following tip # 43, it doesn't matter. All you're doing is putting current in the starter. Put the positive cable from the 12v battery to the stud on the starter.....or the negative cable. Doesn't matter.

I need to know if the starter can be installed if the bendix is engaged and if not is there any way to get the bendix back BTW I have the old style bendix with the big spring??? Thanks
