Jumping gears

I'm back. The Museum has a aircraft tug that has a developing problem with it jumping out of any gear. Looking for thoughts of cause and remedy. We believe it is a Clarktor 6 or clarktor 120.

Either there is a restriction causing the shifting mechanism to limit full travel, or there are issue internal requiring taking it apart. I believe the components are commodity, not unique. Made by a supplier. Jim

I bought a Ford 2000 Diesel 8 speed decades ago that liked to jump out of 8th gear on the road. Over time I kept holding it in gear putting hand pressure on the stick and one day it quit. I guess the PO never used 8th so it developed some corrosion or something causing the problem.
