Kill switch questions

I am currently rebuilding a 1955 Ford 850 (12 volt) and Im going back to the original neutral safety starter button. I have been looking for a on/off switch to shut the tractor off. I would prefer something that is keyed but wouldn't mind a simple on off switch either. Most everything I have seen online has poor reviews. Do any of you have recommendations on a solid switch that will last?

Thank you all for your time.

If you are going original, would an original ignition switch work?

If you go with a simple On/Off switch.

Check into Littelfuse Marine grade Push Pull Switches. Being made for harsh wet conditions. They will be much better suited for a tractor than a cheap automotive type.

Awesome, that's kind of what I was looking for because I can't store it indoors.

Before I took it apart it had a cold hersee three position switch and the neutral safety switch wasn't being used. I would reuse it but I believe all the electrical components to be fried and no longer usable. So I figured why not go back original

While you are at it, wire in a small clearance light down stream of the key switch and mount it under the dash some place. That way, you'll know that the key is on, either on purpose, or by accident. Been pretty handy on my Jubilee.

As mentioned marine suppliers are a good source for weather tolerant electrical parts. Beyond that, Del City and Waytek are a couple online suppliers of quality vehicle electric components.

I use a 50 amp rated toggle switch switch on my old tractors that don't have an alternator that puts out over 35 amps. Battery + to one side of the switch and everything else feeds off that to a fuse block. been diong it for years with no problems. You don' need many wires on an old tractor especially diesel.

That's the main reason I like the oldies so much!

I figure if it's already there you might as well use it.

My grandfather used to be friends with an old cowboy who bought an old 641 workmaster. The first time he went out to use it he started it in gear and ran himself over. Police officer found the body about 2 weeks later.

I also try to make it a habit to sit on the tractor before starting it

I think that's what I'm looking for. Seems good quality based on what I read. Thank you so much for the help
